Dear John, thank you for your message. In order to maintain your Golden Visa, you’ll need to keep the property. If you apply for citizenship or permanent residence at the end of five years, you can sell the property. Hope this helps. Please feel free to reach us at info@getgoldenvisa.com for further inquiries you might have. Cheers.

How long would the American have to own that property prior to selling it to qualify for a golden visa? Could she buy it and sell it a month later?

By: Chanel /portugal-golden-visa-changes#comment-1221 Tue, 07 Sep 2021 03:40:38 +0000 /?p=44001#comment-1221 I have also read that rural properties that are 30 years old or older will also qualify at a lower amount of 280,000 Euros versus 350,000. I have seen this published several places with regards to the changes going to effect in January. So, which is it? Which amount is correct? My understanding is that older properties in the interior or rural parts of the country would qualify at the lesser amount and the expectation is that they will be renovated. I would like clarity on this because there are too many differing accounts of this to be found, many from legal firms.

Does it mean I wold have to apply for a Golden Visa by 1 July 2021 if I wanted to buy a property in Lisbon etc or can I apply after that date until sometime in 2022?
